Hepa Filter / Filter for Cleanroom

Hepa filters are composed of a mat of randomly arranged fibres. The fibres are typically composed of fiberglass and possess diameters between 0.5 and 2.0 micrometer. Hepa filter key factors affecting function are fibre diameter, filter thickness, and face velocity. The air space between Hepa filter fibres is much greater than 0.3μm. The common assumption that a Hepa filter acts like a sieve where particles smaller than the largest opening can pass through is incorrect. Unlike membrane filters, where particles as wide as the largest opening or distance between fibres cannot pass in between them at all, Hepa filters are designed to target much smaller pollutants and particles

Pre Filter / Aluminium Filter

Aluminium filters are one of the most useful aids available to the plain film radiographer. A selection of filters in different thicknesses , shapes and tapers allows the radiographer to select a filter whenever there is anatomy of significant varying thickness to be imaged with a single exposure. Aluminium filters are quick and easy to use. They are also long-lasting and they have the potential to save on unnecessary expenditure on film (one exposure instead of two).

The thicker the aluminium filter, the greater the beam hardening. This will reduce the radiation dose to the patient by absorbing some of the lower energy photons from the X-ray beam

Filter Media

Two main types of filter media are employed in the chemical laboratory— surface filter, a solid sieve which traps the solid particles, with or without the aid of filter paper (e.g. Büchner funnel, Belt filter, Rotary vacuum-drum filter, Cross-flow filters, Screen filter), and a depth filter, a bed of granular material which retains the solid particles as it passes (e.g. sand filter). The first type allows the solid particles, i.e. the residue, to be collected intact; the second type does not permit this. However, the second type is less prone to clogging due to the greater surface area where the particles can be trapped. Also, when the solid particles are very fine, it is often cheaper and easier to discard the contaminated granules than to clean the solid sieve. Filter media can be cleaned by rinsing with solvents or detergents. Alternatively, in engineering applications, such as swimming pool water treatment plants, they may be cleaned by backwashing. Self-cleaning screen filters utilize point-of-suction backwashing to clean the screen without interrupting system flow.

Liquid Filter

Liquid filtration is the removal of solids from liquids by flowing the contaminated liquid through a filter medium that will retain the solid particulates and allow only clean liquid to pass through. A liquid filter is designed to remove impurities that occur in liquids, both from natural and unnatural sources. Liquid filters are used to clean or purify a product or extend the life of the piping by removing corrosive materials that induce erosion. Filters have also been used to remove bacteria from certain liquids to prevent spoiling and, in other cases, to remove harmful particles so that the liquid may be recycled and reused.

Some industries that use liquid filtration include textile mills, cosmetics, food and beverage, electronic components, tool manufacturers, ship builders, pulp and paper mills, foundries, air conditioning, and oil and gas wells. Liquid filters are also used with industrial filter manufacturers for applications such as fuel filters, water filter systems, reverse osmosis water filters, carbon filter and wet/dry filters, and industrial water filters.

Carbon Filter

Carbon filtering is a method of filtering that uses a piece of activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities, utilizing chemical adsorption.
Each piece of carbon is designed to provide a large section of surface area, in order to allow contaminants the most possible exposure to the filter media. One pound (454g) of activated carbon contains a surface area of approximately 100 acres.
This carbon is generally activated with a positive charge and is designed to attract negatively charged water contaminants. Carbon filtering is commonly used for water purification, but is also used in air purifiers.
Carbon filters are most effective at removing chlorine, sediment, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from water. They are not effective at removing minerals, salts, and dissolved inorganic compounds.
Typical particle sizes that can be removed by carbon filters range from 0.5 to 50 micrometres. The particle size will be used as part of the filter description. The efficacy of a carbon filter is also based upon the flow rate regulation. When the water is allowed to flow through the filter at a slower rate, the contaminants are exposed to the filter media for a longer amount of time.

Paper Filter / Oil Cleaner

Paper Filter comes in various porosities and grades depending on the applications it is meant for. The important parameters are wet strength, porosity, particle retention, flow rate, compatibility, efficiency and capacity.

There are two mechanisms of filtration with paper; volume and surface. By volume filtration the particles are caught in the bulk of the filter paper. By surface filtration the particles are caught on the paper surface.

Cartridge Filter / Compressor Air Filter

In the compressed air system, hard particles assault equipment and piping. The result is damage to the system and more particles generated. Examples of particles found in a compressed air system include scale, metal oxides, and dirt.

Particulate compressed air system. aerosol and concentration. Compressed air is saturated with water. Since the compressed air is heated during the compression aftercooler is then used to remove the heat of compression. During this stage a significant quantity of liquid at compressor delivering 100 scfm (2.8 m3/hr) at 100 psig (7 bar) and 100ºF (38ºC) can produce 18 gallons (68 liters) of water a day. These liquids, if not removed, will cause erosion, damage to pneumatic equipment and instruments.

Chemical gases, either alone or in combination with other contaminants, may cause additional damage or create a potential hazard to the process or personnel. Molds, fungus, and compressed air system. Microbes require moisture to grow. In addition to being a health threat to workers, microbes produce acidic waste. This waste corrodes the sludge. Sludge clogs pipes and valves causing valves to jam (stiction). Filtering and drying processes remove particles, moisture, microbes, and chemicals from compressed air. Clean, dry air protects the air system, reduces maintenance costs and increases finished product yields

Dust Collector

Dust Collector is a system used to enhance the quality of air released from industrial and commercial processes by collecting dust and other impurities from air or gas.

Designed to handle heavy dust loads, a dust collector system consists of a blower, dust filter, a filter-cleaning system, and a dust receptacle or dust removal system. It is distinguished from air cleaners which use disposable filters to remove dust.
